Day 2 and Day 3 - We arrived in Shinjo, Yamagata

After a long Shinkansen ride from Tokyo Station, we finally arrived in Shinjo, Yamagata to visit Shinjo East High School, our sister school.

As soon as we stepped out of the bullet train we noticed the cold and snow, and we were welcomed by the Shinjo students and teachers holding a banner to welcome us. We were even picked up by a school bus driven by their Principal!

As we trudged through the fresh snow and entered the school, we were approached by very welcoming students who helped us carry our luggage. They threw a welcoming party for us and both the Grammar students and the Shinjo students had a great time having conversations both in English and Japanese.

Today, the school is having an Open Day and we checked out presentations/performances by various school clubs.

Despite the unbelievably cold weather and snow the TGS students are embracing the opportunity of staying with host families and said they enjoyed the first night. They are embracing every new experience that comes their way, including new foods and Japanese bathrooms! They will now spend the rest of Saturday and the full day on Sunday with their host families. We look forward to hearing about their weekends on Monday!
