Day 11 - Arrived in Kyoto!

After saying good bye to Tokyo, we hopped on the Shinkansen bound for Kyoto. On the Shinkansen, we ate delicious Bento lunchboxes we bought at Tokyo Station, and we were able to see the magnificent Mt. Fuji, partially covered with snow.

In Kyoto, we visited Fushimi Inari shrine, which is famous for statues of kitsune foxes and thousands of vermillion torii gates. Students enjoyed walking on a pathway through the torii gates and also made wishes for success in the future.

After enjoying some souvenir shopping at the shrine we went back to Kyoto station and enjoyed dinner at McDonald’s! Some students enjoyed the long-missed familiar Western food while others were keen to try options that are exclusive to Japanese McDonald’s.

A day trip to Hiroshima tomorrow to greet wild deer on Miyajima and to visit the Peace Park!
